Rightful Monarch

It is a Rose indeed

a Queen whom all should heed

Gorgeous petals, softer than fine silk

with thorns protruding on stems like undying guilt

Layers of  prickle covering her crimson cheeks

a sweet scent powdering bitterness and asserting a tone as she speaks

Growing tall and lean with captivating beauty

she’s lacking in satisfaction but profuse with illuminating duty

Fresh leaves -her facade- caked with mantled dirt

and a core, full with thick acidity pulsing hurt

A growing vine entwined with revengeful hatred

oozing with pungent acrid

A true ruler, she is, enclosed and enchained

to temper residing within, constrained
